Who We Are
Rootwork Herbals is the work and play of community herbalist, Amanda David. Amanda is the mother of three amazing children and a plant lover from way back who has been intimately studying herbal medicine since 1997.
Along her path she has been a seasonal farm worker, completed the intern program at the Herb Pharm, started community gardens, graduated from the Chartered Herbalist program at Dominion Herbal College, apprenticed with Susun Weed, worked as a birth doula, honed her clinical skills with Margi Flint, and is currently continuing her herbal studies with Dr. Aviva Romm. Although she will readily admit that most of what she really knows came from her kids, her clients, her students and the plants.
Since 2007 she has been supplying her community with a wide array of lovingly handcrafted remedies and has been offering deeply personal herbal health consultations and education since 2011. She co-founded the Peoples Garden Project, the Fingerlakes Herbal Network and the Herbal Hoedown. Her newest works are Bramble, community herb shop and the People’s Medicine Project, which seeks to make herbal medicine, education and consultations accessible to all members of our community with a particular focus on meeting the needs of the oppressed.
Above all, Amanda is a lover of plants and a lover of people and is passionate about bringing them together in a down to earth and accessible way that promotes personal and planetary health
Rootwork Herbals seeks to serve our community through herbal education, consultations and handcrafted remedies that are high quality and accessible to all. We strive to inspire and empower people to take back responsibility for their health utilizing plant medicine in a way that is bio-regional, regenerative and joyful.
